Surgery

Hi all,
Sorry haven't written in a while. Been kind of out of it I guess.
Nicholas is having surgery tomorrow at Children's Hospital Boston! He needs to have his Penis separated from his scrotum, fix the hernia and then do the circumcision. I am sure all will go well but I am still a little nervouse because he will be put under general anesthea (sp)!
Will write tomorrow when all is done!!!

I finally am getting around to putting up some pictures of Nicholas eating and LOVING his taste of food!!!

New adventure

I have embarked on a new adventure. I am going to sell AVON! first foods

Today was a big day for Nicholas. He got to start eating solid foods. This morning he had Oatmeal cereal and then a bottle; for lunch he had some sweet potatoes which he absolutely loved my mother said and then a bottle and for dinner he had the rest of the sweet potatoes and he will soon have another bottle and then to bed!!!! Big day for my little guy. I can't believe he is 4 months old now. It is amazing how time flies!!!!

My favorite place to visit is Lake George, NY AND North Conway NH. I love Lake George because that is where we went every summer when I was a kid. We had so much fun.
North Conway because of the outlet shopping!!!

Busy Weekend

I have had a busy weekend. Saturday Sonia goes to Gymnastics at 9:00AM for 45 mintues, we then head out to do some food shopping. After shopping we came home and cleaned the apartment and Sonia was trying to clean her room but it was "hard" for her LOL. Then we got to go out for the night to Rich's annual employee appreciation night. It was fun and my parents watched the kids for us so I was not worried about having a sitter. Today we finished cleaning and Sonia and I went out to Walmart to get a few things.
Having 2 kids is tough to go out with. I try to have my husband stay home with the baby so Sonia and I can get some alone time together. Sometimes it is a disaster and other times it is good.

I heart faces week 2

Here is my I heart faces post for this week. Anything goes for this one. Here is a cute picture of Nicholas in his swing just before he got so sick with RSV.

Back at work

Well, I have been back to work for 2 weeks now and I have to say it is not that bad. I am surprised by that because when Sonia was born I did not go back to work until she was about 5 months old. It is very different from Sonia because I had to leave Sonia with strangers at a day care center in CT while I traveled to MA for my job. I worked 10-6 so Rich had to pick Sonia up. This time, my mom is taking care of Nicholas and I feel so much more at ease. I am not woried all the time and I can go to her house to see him on my break.
The parents have all welcomed me back and are happy that I am back. The kids have acted like I never left and to be honest I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
I sleep pretty good. Nicholas gets up once in the middle of the night and then just about the time I need to get up to take a shower so that works out well.

Early Intervention

Nicholas will be seen with EI for 6 months and then they will determine if he needs an IFSP. The advocate told me that I could choose two options: 1. have him seen for 6 months and then at the end determine if he needs more or 2. wait a few more months and call if I still have questions. I chose number 1 because I believe that every child could use extra help with everything. I guess that is the Early Childhood Teacher in me. So the therapist will call me this week with a time to come and visit with Nicholas! I will keep you posted.

Sonia's Official First Hair Cut

Today Sonia had her hair cut for the first time. She was a little scared at first and cried but then she was brave. I took her to a Snip-It's. Not sure if any of you have one around you but it is a hair salon designed for children only. When they arrive they get a little "credit card" and when they are finished they put it in a machine and they get a small prize. Really cute. Here is a before and after Picture of Sonia.

Doctor Called Today

The Cardiologist called today and everything is fine. It does however look as if he might have a small hole in the upper left chamber but that is normal for 2 months old. He said theat they usually close up by 8 months old and he wants to see Nicholas again at a year old. We were very relieved to hear that.

Doctor Appointment

Nicholas had his follow up appointment with the Cardiologist for his heart when he was born. He had another echo cardiogram today he did very well. He had just eaten before it so he was calm with a full belly!
When the doctor came in, he listened to his heart and then told me he would be right back, he just needed to check something on the echo. Well, a red flag went right up in my mind. When the doctor came back in, he said it looks good. They compared the echo from today and from the appointment he had in November. They look almost the same. When Nicholas was born, they were worried about his left ventrical being too small, well in today's echo the left ventrical look a little larger than normal but he is not sure. He wants the head tech to read the echo. He will call me tomorrow with the results. If the measuremnts were correct today, we will need to be seen again in 6-8 weeks. If the measurements were not correct then he is all done with the cardiologists. So I will know tomorrow!

What am I doing wrong!! HELP!!!

I do not know what I am doing wrong; but Sonia will NOT sleep in her own bed/room. I lay down with her and rub her back and when I try to leave she starts crying and says her belly hurts and she needs to throw up. When we arrive at the bathroom she cries and says she wants Daddy and to sleep in Daddy's room. Now, I have been laying down with her for almost an hour and I thought she was a sleep but NO!! I get extremely aggravated because I am tired and she used to be fine going to sleep after I left her, but ever since about June of last year she has had to have me lay down with her until she has fallen asleep. I don't know what to do. I have tried all my "tricks" I think I know but they have not worked! HELP!

work after maternity leave

Today was a busy day for myself and Nicholas. Nicholas had his 2 month doctor appointment. It went very well. He now weighs 11 lbs 5 oz and is 22 1/2" long. His doctor was very pleased with his progress. We decided to call Early Intervention to get him evaluated. I have a few concerns and the doctor agrees with me. He was on a CPAP machine at birth and then 4 weeks later was intebated for 8 days so her and I want to make sure everything is developing on time.

As for me, I started work again after being off for 10 weeks. I started late around 12:30 because of the DR's apointment. I have to admit, it felt like I hadn't even been gone. Some of the kids who are 3 years old by the way; decided to try to test me but that is normal. Overall it was a great day.

Nicholas is with my mom for when I am at work and that puts my mind at ease!

back to work

Well, it's back to work tomorrow for me after 10 weeks off for maternity leave. Even though I was in the hospital for 3 of those weeks! Oh well what can you do.
I go back to work tomorrow but late because Nicholas has his 2 month appointment and then I have to take Wednesday off because Nicholas has his Cardiologist appointment. He has that to make sure everything is progressing normally. I guess at 2 months old that is when all newborn "stuff" should be gone from the heart area and they can really tell if everything is OK!
Sometimes I wish I could be a SAHM but then I think I would be bored. I would waste gas and probably EAT myself to 300lbs.
Well, wish me luck going back to work. Maybe I will have more to write about when I am at work. We will see. And maybe I will get more people to visit my blog IDK.
