We are on the regular floor and let me tell you, it is NOT like the ICU. Everyone was within reach. Here I have to ring the bell and wait like 10 friken minutes for someone to answer it. But that is OK. I just worry that when the alarms on the monitors go off and no one comes in for a few mintues. In the ICU they came in right away; Oh well I will get used to it I guess.
We will probably be here for a few more days. He needs to start eating good and get the tube out. He is off of the oxygen and doing well.

Nicholas is doing much better. He is feeding OK still having trouble manipulating the bottle again but he will get the hang of it I hope!!! He has all IV's out and is still on oxygen to help him breathe easier.
We will be going to a regular floor today probably.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!!!

Yeah Nicholas is breathing all on his own now. His tube is out and is doing well. He needs some regular oxygen to keep up his sp02 levels but doing well.
Sonia came in today to see him and she is handling it pretty well. I took a picture of him and all his equipment and showed it to her yesterday to prepare her. I explained everything that was in the pictures. She kissed the camera. So adorable!!!

Happy Day
I am sooo happy today because Nicholas should be getting the breathing tube out of his mouth today! He passed the breathing "test" last night with flying colors. They just need to give him some medication to losen his throat. It is very tight so if they do not give him this medication his throat would close up as soon as they take out the tube so they will also give him a nebulizer treatment of Epinpherin to help keep it open.
I will also be leaving her again today just to get more things done for Sonia's Birthday party tomorrow. My nephew's bday is Dec 12 and Sonia's is Dec 16 and they are in the same preschool class so we are having all of their friends at a gymnastic's studio for their birthday. It will be fun because they do 1 hour of gymnastics with the instructors and then 1/2 hour for cake and ice cream. So wonderful that I do not need to clean anything up.

AHHHHHH!!! I can just a exhale now! Nicholas is turning the corner as these doctors say. He is breathing more over the ventillator so they will be weaning him off some more of the pressure and assisst. They have weaned him off some of the sedation meds and is giving him more formula to "eat" through his tube.
I am a bit relaxed now but still worried and will be until we go HOME!!! I don't know when that will be yet but hopefully by next week.

Nicholas was taken off of the paralysis medication today!!! He opened his eyes and was moving around a lot. He is also taking some spontaneous breaths by himself, but he still does not like the tube in his throat. Sometimes his heart rate drops considerably and they have to bag him and give him some breaths to get it back up.
I was able to get home today and spend some time with Sonia. I picked her up from school and played some of her songs of the cd player in the car especially Jingle Bells, she has been asking me for that song since mid October. I told her we cannot play that song until after Thanksgiving and now it is after and she wants it all the time. Oh well, I love Christmas Music anyways!!!

Nicholas update so I can get it out!!!
Yesterday was a trying day for me. Nicholas had a good day and then in the evening his left upper lobe of his lung collapsed and he was very wet in his right side of his lungs. They gave him some medication to help him pee out the fluid and just kept a good eye on him during the night.
This morning when I woke up his lung looks much better and has inflated so that is good news.
They are also going to try to take him off of the paralyzing drug to see how he does with the ventilator.
So over all he has had a good few days.
